Just to let you know how much my husband and I enjoy reading The Local. We can watch the World News on TV,
but you let us keep in touch with what is happening on our own patch and we enjoy and appreciate that!
Thank you,
Doreen and Ian Tipton
Warm greetings, team @ The Local!

It is so pleasing & refreshing to meet with local support & enthusiasm - thank you!!!
We had a great show and a great turnout, and both performers & spectators were very happy.

Hello Carol and staff,
The new Local is SO much better than it used to be, and the website is great too – very easy to use, clean and uncluttered, and fast to load. Great job!
Keep up the great work,

Carol & Allan:
I just wanted to write and thank you both, on behalf of myself and the Chatelech Drama Society kids, for the wonderful photo you have on this week's Local of the cast of Aladdin. The support of our local media means a great deal to these kids and to the school and its community.
Allan's whole cast photo on the front page is so good that I was wondering if I could get a JPEG of it to have a large print made for our theatre.

Dear Wendy, and Allan,
Thank you so much for the news coverage and advertisements you provided the Sunshine Coast Japan Disaster Relief Fund. Without a doubt, you helped make our fund raiser a success. I just finished reading the latest issue of The Local with your article and photos. Then I went online and viewed 44 fabulous photos. Just great.
The dinner/auction had a magical blending of Japanese and Canadian cultures as your photos show. Many commented on what a special evening this was. Which was the frosting on the cake - the wonderful evening or the amount of money raised?
Thank you,
Elizabeth McNeill

It was so thrilled to see ourselves on the front cover! Mar-Lynn Church phoned me up this afternoon to congratulate me.
I feel so rewarded, a shiny star on my head! Thank you so much for you and your staff's support. It was a very successful event!

Below is an email I sent to John Weston in response to this mornings CBC newscast. I thought you might like to print this or some similar sentiment in your 'letters to the editor' section. It is as times like this that we need a newspaper like yours.
Sincerely,

Hi John,
It was recently announced that Elizabeth May would not be permitted to participate in the Leaders Debate. Conservative leader Stephen Harper's response to the public outcry was to suggested a one to one debate between himself and the Liberal leader. Michael Ignatieff embraced this suggestion only to have Harper back out. I would look forward with anticipation to a one to one debate and am disappointed by Harper's response. I live in your riding on the Sunshine Coast. Many of my friends and neighbours are sitting on the fence, as are many of the people who live in West Vancouver. If Harper won't face Ignatieff I have to ask - "What does Harper have to hide? What is he afraid off? Who is really leading the Conservative Party?". This could be a turning point for the way many people will vote in this riding and throughout the rest of the country. I urge you to consider this in your communications with your party and your "Leader'. Your job could be on the line too.
Found !! and what a good story.
One of my fears was that this sander was off to the side of the road or something and with all the rain and snow the motor would rust out, and wreck it. But even if damaged, I determined I would pay a reward no matter the condition, as even a used one can cost over $1500.
Well, a fellow found it shortly after we lost it, and put it in the trunk of his car, keeping it all nice and dry, and when he told his buddies about it over coffee at Tim Hortons they kind of ribbed him and told him to just put it back out on the street which he didn't want to do, because of possible damage, or falling into the wrong hands etc.
So a few days went by, and when the paper came out he read your ad, called me first thing early Friday morning, and although he would have been happy to just return it to us, he was so thankful for the reward, as it turns out he is recently out of work, his daughter is diabetic, and they are short of money for her medication.
I thought you would like the happy ending all around.
Thanks again for the free ad,
Daryl,

It looks amazing! Your ad designers do great work! I look forward to seeing it in the paper.
Thanks again,

Please accept my gratitude on publishing a letter on Febraury 10, 2011, from by colleague Mr. Garry Gaudet of ASTTBC about the Year of Science job placement initiative.
It has resulted in a number of inquiries from the local community and helped move our project forward! We are particularly emphasizing rural areas of BC to meet future needs for science and technology professionals across the province so every little bit of publicity helps.
If I can offer more information on the initiative or ASTTBC and how we are involved in most aspects of our community's well being please feel free to contact me!

To all of you at the Local...
Thank you so very much for the beautiful coverage of our event, Cover Me, the Arts Feature section of your newspaper.

Just a note of special THANKS for the full page photo layout on Dakota Ridge in your last edition. It has been a great start to the snow season and so many people have been enjoying fun in the sun via our snow. I hope Allan thoroughly enjoyed his trip up the mountain. How could he not taking so many wonderful photos, especially the kids?
I wanted you to know that Sunshine Coast Tourism has been marketing Dakota Ridge to off-Coast consumers. We have included your online photo gallery in our social media feeds. Hope you are seeing lots of web traffic.
Thanks again,

There is an excellent article regarding our five year planning committee and our report in the New Year's edition of The Local. I would suggest that you get a copy, read it over, and allow yourself an extra 1/4 oz of gin in your Martini tonight.
Happy New Year
Dr. Barry Pruden
We would like you to know that we both enjoy reading your chatty editorial comments each week in The Local. Long may you and your comments continue!
Best regards, Lyn and Yvette Kinsey

Thanks again.

I just wanted to thank you so much on behalf of the Welcome Beach Community Association for putting the media release into the Letters to the Editor. It has given the event great exposure. I was in Shoppers with my 101-year-old mom yesterday and CVUE radio station rang me and we did a three-minute impromptu interview about the event in the cleaning aids aisle next to the Pine-o-cleen:). They obviously saw the letter in your newspaper.
The ticket sales are coming along fine, with the incredible help of Sue Lamb at the HMBay Community Office, she's been promoting the event like crazy to the parents. I think we should have 70-90 at the event.
I'll let you know how the "First Annual" went. Thank you again for your incredible support.
Warm regards,
Fran |
