The Town of Gibsons has announced that it has hired Lesley-Ann Staats as its new director of planning. Lesley-Ann will join the Town on Jan. 2. She replaces Andre Boel, who held the position for nearly five years.
Lesley-Ann brings close to a decade of planning experience to the role. For the past eight years, she has worked at the Sunshine Coast Regional District, first as a planning technician and then as a planner. Prior to that, she worked with the Sechelt Indian Band as a planning assistant and developed land use policies.
“As a local planning professional, I understand both the local and regional context of land uses,” said Lesley-Ann. “And as a member of the Gibsons community, I care deeply about the future growth and direction of this town. I look forward to working with the Town in a way that respects public diversity and values.”
“Lesley-Ann has a solid reputation as someone who works collaboratively with a team to leverage the group’s collective knowledge and strengths,” said Emanuel Machado, Gibsons’ chief administrative officer. “She is also known for carefully balancing the mandate and advice from other qualified professionals when guiding Council’s decision-making. These are essential qualities in a Director of Planning and we are delighted to welcome Lesley-Ann to our team.”
Lesley-Ann is a mother of two who loves to travel and enjoys natural spaces and outdoor experiences. She has lived on the Sunshine Coast since 2008. Submitted
