Adopt an artifact for Christmas

new matt lovegroveThis holiday season, the Sunshine Coast Museum & Archives has some great gift ideas for everyone on your list.  Why not “Adopt an Artifact” as a unique and fun gift for that special someone in your life? Originally launched in 2015 as a museum fundraiser, we have recently added new artifacts up for adoption that reflect all aspects of life on the Sunshine Coast. Choose from over 35 priceless, intriguing and one-of-a-kind artifacts to adopt for varying levels of donation. When you adopt an artifact, you will receive a unique adoption certificate plus a variety of rewards related to the level of donation (a great gift idea is to adopt an artifact in someone’s name). New this year is the “Adopt a Butterfly” option where you can pick out your favourite butterfly from our collection and adopt it for $25 or more (you name the price). With your adoption certificate, we will print out a full colour glossy reproduction of your butterfly to accompany the present.

Another very special gift idea is to print out an archival photograph from our collection and get it framed or mounted. Did you know that at the Museum we house over 7,000 archival images of the Sunshine Coast, and that you can search them for free at home? Photographs of Sunshine Coast people, places and events can be a very meaningful gift for someone who has a strong connection to this beautiful place we call home. The best part is that it only costs $15 for a digital copy of a high-resolution photograph.

For other gift ideas, come down to check out our giftshop that has a great selection of items from local artisans plus a deep selection of books about British Columbia. The Museum will be open until Friday, Dec. 23 this year for all of the last minute shoppers.
