School District 46 will have a mostly-new board following the Oct. 20 election.
Board vice-chair Pammila Ruth was re-elected in Area 3, the only incumbent trustee. Also elected in Area 3 – which covers Gibsons and SCRD areas D, E and F – are newcomers Sue Girard and Stacia Leech.
In Area 2, covering the District of Sechelt and some shíshálh lands, three trustees were chosen by acclamation: Amanda Amaral, Maria Hampvent, and Tonya Ste.Marie.
And in Area 1, covering SCRD areas A and B and shíshálh lands, trustee Samantha Haines was also chosen by acclamation.
The new board’s inaugural meeting will be Nov. 6. The board will choose its own chair. Staff
