The Sunshine Coast RCMP are looking for assistance from the public in solving an attempted robbery of a senior citizen in Gibsons.
On Tuesday, July 22 at approximately 10 pm, a 76 year old Gibsons man was walking on Gibsons Way just west of Pratt Road, when he was approached by two males believed to be in their late teens or early twenties.
The two males attempted to rob the man of his wallet. The 76 year old refused and the two males assaulted him. The 76 year old was able to fight off the two assailants and may have injured one of them in the nose or forehead. The first suspect was described as caucasian, average build, average height, with light brown hair, wearing a red baseball cap, and riding a bike. The second suspect was described as caucasian, average build, average height, dark hair and wearing a dark sweater.
“The suspects did not get the man’s wallet,” police note.
However police never recommend getting in a fight with a stranger over personal property, but in this case these guys tried to rob the wrong senior, and this gentleman stood his ground.
“I’m sure the suspects were surprised,” Cst. Harrison Mohr said.
If you have can provide any information about this attempted robbery please contact Cst. Scott Wong, at (604) 885-2266 and reference file 2014-4941.
