Sunshine Coast RCMP, Emergency Health Services and Gibsons Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a cable car accident in the 1500 block of Tideview Road in Langdale on Sunday afternoon.
Police said three people were injured after the cable broke, releasing the car approximately 75 meters down the embankment. One of the passengers was able to jump off and sustained less serious injuries in comparison to his counterparts, who sustained more serious injuries. The Canadian Coast Guard hovercraft attended the scene and transported all three passengers to Langdale Ferry terminal, where they were then transported to Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) by air ambulance. By Monday it was reported that two of the three victims had since been released from VGH, while the third victim remains in hospital in stable condition.
