Pender Harbour Wildlife Society presents “great blue herons: conservation of an iconic bird of BC’s south coast” with Ross Vennesland, Tuesday, Feb. 20, 7pm at Pender Harbour Secondary School.
With their striking presence either as statues along the shoreline or flying overhead, there is no doubt that the great blue heron is an iconic bird of our coastline. Learn about the natural history of these birds, why they are considered to be ‘at risk’ and what is being done to help.
Ross Vennesland began studying herons through his graduate studies at SFU. He is currently a species conservation specialist for Parks Canada and an active member of the BC Heron Working Group. This presentation, open to everyone, will be followed by the annual general meeting. Refreshments will be served. Updates at info@penderharbourwildlife.com.
